Deputy Commissioner Kohima B Henok Buchem has issued an order that all building construction firms, agencies, and individuals in Kohima district are to cover construction sites with perimeter hoarding, debris netting, scaffold shrink-wrap, Monarflex sheeting or equivalent measures.

The DC stated that dust and debris from uncovered building construction sites pollute the air, thereby degrading its quality. The order also stated that uncovered building construction activities generate excessive noise, contributing to noise pollution, posing safety risks as falling parts, tools, equipment, machinery, or structural collapses may endanger human life and property.

Therefore, in the interest of public health, safety and environmental protection, all concerned have been directed to cover construction sites with necessary measures.

Further the order stated that any destruction, defacement of public property, harm to human life or livestock caused by such negligence, shall attract strict penalties under relevant provision of Law.
