The President and all members of Nagaland Athletics (NA) extended their congratulations to the Athletics team of Nagaland for its commendable performance at the just concluded North East Olympic Games 2022.
Athletics won a total of 23 medals that included 9 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze medals which was the highest amongst all disciplines in the overall Nagaland tally.
The NA said the icing on the cake was the winning of Best Athlete in the Girls U20 by Niansai T and in Men’s above 20 by Neiketuolie Belho, and added that their performance has made Nagaland proud and brought joy to the state’s citizens.
While congratulating and appreciating the hard work of every athlete, Nagaland Athletics placed on record their appreciation to the coaches and support team who worked equally hard and made significant contributions towards the training and development of the contingent.
The coaching and support team included Khriezotuonuo Theunuo, C Tongjen Thai, Purna Konyak and Mhonsao Ngullie. Special appreciation was also extended to the Athletics Federation of India for deputing two national-level coaches S Jayachandran and C Gopinath from Tamil Nadu.
The NA said they worked with committed dedication and immensely contributed towards the improvement of the athletes and ensured that the athletes performed to the best of their abilities on the days of the competition.
Gratitude was also extended to the AFI for handholding Nagaland Athletics and assisting them in all areas, for which the NA stated positive results are being shown in the form of medals and victories.
Nagaland Athletics further extended its appreciation to the Chief Minister and President of the Nagaland Olympic Association Neiphiu Rio for his constant support and guidance to the sports fraternity.
Nagaland Athletics also appreciated Nagaland Olympic Association for all the support and assistance provided to the entire sports community.
It added that Nagaland Athletics is committed to continue to strive towards providing opportunities for the improvement and development of the sport and sportspersons.
NA further appreciated all sections and individuals who have always supported and helped them in their collective endeavors of uplifting the youth and added that they continue to seek support and solidarity.
