The Kohima Obstetrics and Gynecology Society of Nagaland (KOGSON) successfully concluded the 34th Annual North East Obstetrics & Gynecological Societies Conference (NEOGSCON 2025), held from November 28 to 30, 2025 at the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), Kohima.
The conference, organised under the theme “Integrative Approach to Women’s Healthcare,” marked a historic moment for the medical fraternity of the Northeast as Kohima proudly hosted this prestigious gathering for the first time, informed a press release by KOGSON.
The three-day event recorded an impressive turnout of approximately 450 to 500 attendees, including more than 320 registered delegates in addition to volunteers, medical representatives and support personnel. The scale of participation reflected tremendous national interest, with eminent doctors, resident practitioners and researchers representing all eight Northeastern states along with other regions of India including New Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Puducherry and Kerala.
Day One featured four intensive clinical workshops centred on Colposcopy and Preventive Oncology, Ultrasound and Fetal Medicine, IUI and IVF, and Operative Gynecology. These workshops served as hands-on training platforms bridging advanced medical knowledge with practical clinical skill, and saw enthusiastic participation from both young doctors and senior professionals. Over the following days, scientific sessions and panel discussions unfolded across multiple disciplines such as fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, urogynecology, pelvic floor disorders, high-risk obstetrics, gynecological oncology, aesthetic and regenerative gynecology, critical care, PCOS management and endometriosis-related fertility challenges. The rich exchange of perspectives reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in securing the best outcomes for women’s health.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with the ceremonial blowing of the horn followed by the formal entry of the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Organising Chairperson and senior faculty. Dr Nandira Limasangla Changkija, Patron of KOGSON, delivered the Welcome Address, which was followed by the Guest of Honour Address delivered by Prof. Dr Soumya Chakraborty, Dean of NIMSR. The conference souvenir and magazine were unveiled by Dr Emmanuel L Yanthan before the Chief Guest, Dr Sukhato A Sema, MLA and Patron of KOGSON, addressed the gathering. The ceremony ’oncluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr Kevilhounyu Linyu, Organising Chairperson of NEOGSCON 2025, and a closing musical performance by The Colored Keys.
Beyond its academic significance, NEOGSCON 2025 also celebrated the cultural heritage and hospitality of Nagaland. The highlight of the Day-2 evening was a grand Cultural Extravaganza, which captivated the entire delegation. A stunning performance by the internationally acclaimed Tetseo Sisters added prestige to the occasion and offered delegates a memorable glimpse into the artistic richness of Naga tradition, stated the press release.

NEOGSCON 2025 was made possible through the support of its official partners where Niathu Group served as the Hospitality Partner, The Tent Associates as the Event Partner, and Happy Fleet as the official Travel Partner.
“For the people of Nagaland, hosting NEOGSCON 2025 signified far more than a calendar event. It positioned Kohima as a growing centre for medical education and academic congregation, while placing NIMSR on the national map as an emerging institute of clinical learning and research. The opportunity to interact directly with national experts proved particularly valuable for students and young practitioners. For many delegates, the trip extended beyond academics, with several staying back to witness the iconic Hornbill Festival, thereby boosting exposure to Nagaland’s cultural, tourism and hospitality landscape,” added the press release.
The conference has been widely acknowledged as a resounding success — academically rigorous, culturally enriching and meticulously organised. KOGSON expresses sincere gratitude to all faculty members, delegates, volunteers, resource persons and partners whose collective efforts shaped the event into an outstanding milestone for the Northeast’s medical community. The momentum generated by NEOGSCON 2025 promises to contribute meaningfully to future collaboration and progress in women’s healthcare across the region and beyond.
