Village Guard under Sitimi Area, Kiphire District celebrated its 50th Golden Jubilee with Minister for Soil and Water Conservation and Geology & Mining V Kashiho Sangtam as special guest at Sitimi Hq on 18 November.

Speaking at the celebration, Sangtam appreciated the Village Guard personnel for rendering valuable service to the people at the village level. The VGs play a very important role in maintaining law an order in their own respective areas along with the administration, he added.

He urged the Village Guards to set an example of good discipline and be torch bearers in bringing peace and unity among various tribes and community.

He recalled how VGs put their efforts in guarding and protecting the village from insurgent and criminal activities. He further encouraged them to continue to live to the good name as the finest village volunteers.

Earlier, the Minister also unveiled the jubilee monolith.

Meanwhile on the sideline of the VGs Golden Jubilee celebration, the Minister also flagged off a new Force Ambulance for PHC Sitimi.

This facility will be a boost for Sitimi Town Primary Health Centre’s infrastructure. Under his initiative, an ambulance was provided to Geology & Mining department by the ONGC company through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

During a brief flag off programme, the Minister expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the ONGC for the initiative undertaken for the people and expressed hope that they would continue to do so even in the future.
