Dimapur Police intercepted a Mahindra Thar that illegally entered the railway tracks near Dimapur Railway Station on December 16 night, averting a potential accident and ensuring the safety of passengers and railway property.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 11:35 p.m. when a Mahindra Thar bearing registration number NL-01/CA-8181, driven by Thefuncituo (65), son of late Khriezo Rio and a resident of Signal Angami, Dimapur, illegally entered the railway track from the MXN side towards the Dimapur Railway Station platform. The vehicle later got stuck on Line No. 1 near the old flyover area at Burma Camp.
Upon receiving information, police personnel, in coordination with railway authorities, immediately rushed to the spot. The vehicle was safely removed from the tracks without causing any harm to passengers, railway assets, or the general public.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the incident was a result of gross negligence and violation of traffic and railway safety norms. The vehicle and the driver have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered at the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Dimapur. Further investigation is underway to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether alcohol or any other substance was involved.

Dimapur Police have cautioned the public that unauthorized entry onto railway tracks is a serious offence and poses grave danger to life and public safety. Such reckless actions not only endanger the individual involved but also put passengers and critical railway infrastructure at risk.
The police have appealed to citizens to cooperate by promptly reporting any suspicious or unsafe activities to help ensure public safety.
