MYO, MVSU condemn attack on taxi driver in Assam

The Monnu Youth Organization (MYO) has condemned the brutal attack on one of its members, Tahngom Konyak by a person on January 8 at Jorhat, Assam.

The MYO said that Tahngom Konyak, a taxi driver was driving passengers to Mon when he was forced to halt his vehicle and then attacked by a sharp machete without any rhyme or reason, inflicting severe head injuries.

The Organization denounced this atrocious act and lauded the prompt intervention of SP Mon leading to the arrest of the culprit, which subdued public anger and prevented the situation from further escalation.

The MYO demanded the justice be delivered swiftly and comprehensively to the victim and the accused be awarded befitting punishment as per the law of the land. It also called upon right thinking citizens to condemn the attempted murder and urged the authorities to establish security protocols at all times to safeguard travelers using this route from Mon-Dimapur.

The Organization also prayed for the speedy recovery of the victim

Mon Village Students’ Union (MVSU) has also condemned the attempt to murder and said this brutal and despicable act of crime has horrified the communities in the districts and the state.

The Union said the attack upon the driver is not only a crime but a direct threat to daily passengers travelling via Jorhat. It urged the law enforcing agencies to give exemplary punishment as per the provision of the law without further delay.

The Union further extended sympathy to the victim and family at this moment and wished a speedy recovery.
