The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung ) has expressed shock and anguish at the gruesome and senseless murder of Maj Manwang Leipha Konyak, Naga Army at Tizit, Mon District, by the Angmai-Mulatonu (pro-India faction) on the evening of January 23 last.
Stating that the Angmai-Mulatonu group has once against unleashed their atrocity and brutality on the NSCN/GPRN members by killing an officer in a well-coordinated conspiracy, it said killing an unarmed Officer in cold-blooded manner is not a daring move but a cowardly and shameful act.
The NSCN/GPRN said at the time his murder late Maj Manwang was taking leave on health ground after being released from the Indian jail last month. “He was mercilessly killed at point-blank by armed assailants led by Brig Noktha of Angmai group who is also responsible for the gruesome murder of Haiwang, Central Council Member of NSCN/GPRN in the year 2023 in Tizit,” it stated.
“These anti-people elements in connivance with the Indian agencies are day dreaming that they could suppress the NSCN/GPRN by eliminating our unsuspecting and innocent members,” it said and condemned condemns this brutal killing in the severest term and we strongly declare that we take this seriously.
The NSCN/GPRN further stated that late Maj Manwang Leipha had served the Naga nation sincerely to the best of his ability and knowledge and the NSCN/GPRN and the entire Naga Army honor and saluted him for his selfless sacrifice.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Naga Army has posthumously promoted him to his next higher rank of Lieut.Colonel for his national service.
It also conveyed deep condolences to his bereaved family members in this hour of grief and sorrow.

Longphaoh Citizens’ Forum:
Meanwhile, the Longphaoh Citizens’ Forum (LCF) has condemned the cold-blooded murder of Manwang Leipha, a serving military personnel of the Naga political group NSCN/GPRN (YA), who was brutally killed at his residence on January 23 last in presence of this family in Tizit village.
Stating that this barbaric act has deeply shocked the conscience of the society and stands as a grave assault on humanity, law and dignity of life, the LCF said the trauma inflicted upon his family, who were forced to witness his inhuman act, is beyond words and deserves to be strongly condemned.
The LCF said at a time when ENPO and KU are engage in resolving Naga political issue, such acts of violence defy the call of the people.
Expressing solidarity with the grieving family, the LCF reiterated its commitment to justice, peace and the rule of law. It demanded an immediate, just and thorough investigation by the appropriate law enforcement agencies and called on all NGOs and right thinking citizens to extend support to bring the perpetrators to justice.
