Sheanghah Chingnyu Students’ Union holds 63rd general meeting

The Sheanghah Chingnyu Students’ Union (SCSU) held its general meeting cum office bearers installation program on January 23 and 24.

The keynote address was delivered by M Nonggang Konyak President of SCSU who called for unity, peace, transparency and cooperation among the community for the progess of the students’ fraternity.

Chaired by Ashah Ameshu (Assembly Secretary of SCSU), the program started with an invocation by the Deacon Board of Sheanghah Chingnyu Baptist Church after which the Konyak Students Union Anthem was sung by all the attendees.

Post key note address, the induction of officials was announced by Gangjin Konyak, Convenor of the Nominating Committee who congratulated the outgoing officials for their dedication, sacrifice and efforts rendered during their tenure. He further congratulated the new officials headed by President Elect M Lokom Wangsa and his colleagues for the new responsibility and assignments.

During the report presentation, the General Secretary Longpa Konyak highlighed key activities, achievements, and initiatives undertaken during the previous term. The report covered academic engagements, student welfare measures, cultural and extracurricular activities, and efforts made to address student concerns. The financial report were also shared by Nokpeih Konyak to ensure transparency and accountability.

In the review of resolution hour, the house expressed satisfaction with the relevance and clarity of the resolutions and reaffirmed its commitment to their effective implementation. Members agreed to continue working in accordance with the decisions already adopted, in the larger interest of the student community.

During the discussion hour, various agendas and ideas were laid upon by the intellectuals , ex officials, village elders and other attendees. Some of the important agendas includes the preservation of wild life, natural resources, birds and sustainable environment goals. The discussion hour of the Students’ Union general meeting witnessed active and constructive participation from members. Various issues concerning students’ welfare, academic matters, and organizational functioning were raised and discussed at length. Members shared suggestions and viewpoints in a democratic manner, contributing to a healthy exchange of ideas. The House appreciated the spirit of cooperation and unity displayed during the discussion.

The following day, a special prayer program for the old and the new executives was held at Sheanghah Chingnyu Baptist Church. The local Pastor along with the Board of Church members sought God’s protection and guidance through out the tenure. The local pastor further bestowed blessings upon the old and the new executives. The event at the Church concluded with a mass prayer.

Later in the evening hour, the executives shared opinions, ideas and innovation to be followed up in the coming years. The newly inducted Asst. General Secretary Mankhat N Konyak expressed on need for unity and team spirit. He futher advised for membera to adhere by the laws as guaranteed by the constitution and not to take law into the hands of SCSU. The session concluded with a mass prayer.
