The Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS), Health and Family Welfare Department has informed Ayushman Card holders that Aadhaar linkage with their Ayushman Cards is mandatory for availing benefits under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) at empanelled hospitals.

The NHPS stated that during the initial implementation of AB PM-JAY, from 2018 to September 2022, Ayushman Cards could be generated without Aadhaar linkage for beneficiaries covered under the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) and Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) data sources.

However, in view of the beneficiary mapping exercise being implemented through the NHA IT platform, Aadhaar linkage with Ayushman Cards has subsequently been made mandatory.

As per the prevailing policy of the scheme, beneficiaries are required to have their Aadhaar linked with their Ayushman Cards to avail benefits at hospitals under AB PM-JAY. The NHPS stated that an analysis of beneficiary records in the Beneficiary Identification System (BIS) has revealed that more than 1.14 lakh beneficiary cards in Nagaland have not yet been linked with Aadhaar.

In this regard, all Ayushman Card holders whose cards were generated between 2018 and September 2022 have been requested to verify the Aadhaar linkage status of their cards. Beneficiaries whose cards are not yet linked with Aadhaar have been advised to complete the linkage through the Card Generation (BIS) portal.

The Aadhaar linkage can be completed through any of the following channels: the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), CSCs, VLEs, card vendor agencies, or any empanelled PM-JAY hospital.

The NHPS has set November 30, 2026 as the deadline for completing the Aadhaar linkage.

The Office Memorandum further cautioned that failure to complete the Aadhaar linkage within the stipulated period may result in the disabling of the Ayushman Card. In such cases, the concerned beneficiary may subsequently be required to undergo fresh e-KYC through the Beneficiary Identification System (BIS) portal.
