The 18.8 acres of land presently occupied by Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), 3rd Mile, Chumoukedima was handed over to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) on Friday for the development of Phase-I of Dimapur Airport.
The joint execution programme for handing and taking over was attended by Moa Pongen, APD, AAI, Dimapur Airport, Chumoukedima; Commandant KD Sharma, CO, No. 2 Bn, ARTC&S; Sentiwapang Aier NCS, Secretary, AIR Cell, Transport Department, Polan John, NCS Deputy Commissioner, Chumoukedima, M Ababe Ezung OSD, Transport Department, along with other officials.
According to an official update, the officials inspected the identified area measuring 18.8 acres situated at ARTC&S, 3rd Mile, Chumoukedima. Following the site inspection, a formal handing over and taking over programme was executed in the presence of the State Government officials comprising of Deputy Commissioner, Chumoukedima and Secretary, AIR Cell, Transport Department.

During the meeting, the issue relating to transfer of the remaining areas presently under the occupation of ARTC&S for Phase-II development of Dimapur Airport, Chumoukedima was also discussed and it was agreed that further directives from the appropriate authorities would be required for transfer of the remaining areas for Phase-II development works.
The handing over and taking over programme marked an important milestone towards the development plan of Dimapur Airport.
