Imkongmar, Advisor Sericulture & Minority Affairs Govt. of Nagaland formally inaugurated the Seri-Tourism Model Farming Centre at Khensa village Mokokchung on 10th August 2024. As per the report by DPRO, Mokokchung, addressing the program, Advisor lauded the collective efforts in successfully implementing the Seri-tourism project at the village, which is one of the first of its kind in the state for the welfare of the people.
The Advisor emphasised that the Centre should not only act as a recreational centre but should also be utilize as a centre where visitors are made aware of the different activities of Sericulture and its potentials for sustainable income generation due to its market availability. He also pointed out that the success of this Centre will be an eye opener for more centres to come up in near future. While thanking Khensa and neighbouring villagers for their support, Imkongmar hoped that this project will bring positive impact to our society.
Delivering the keynote address, Director, Department of Sericulture, Sanjay Rai, informed that the project was funded under NEC 2023-2024 schemes. Besides attracting tourist, he said the centre will generate employment through the various Sericulture activities in the Seri-Tourism Model Farming Centre.
Sharing a word of appreciation I. Alemmeren Longchar, Chairman, Khensa Village Council, said that it is a dream realized beyond imagination. He also cautioned that any defaulter of rules and regulations laid down by the council would be severely dealt by the council.
Earlier in the program, Advisor, Imkongmar unveiled the inaugural stone of the Seri-Tourism Model Farming Centre and inspected the premises.
The program was chaired by Alemkumzuk, Deputy Director of Sericulture Department, invocation was pronounced by Puryapang Pastor, Ongpangkong Compound Baptist Church and benediction by Mayanger Walling, Pastor, Khensa Baptist Church. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Imonger, District sericulture Officer Mokokchung.
