Aggrieved landowners Kohima-Jessami 2-lane road appeal for compensation

The Aggrieved Landowners of Kohima – Jessami Two Lane construction packager IIB, III, IV and V have appealed to Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge of National Highway, T. R. Zeliang to resolve the issue of non-payment of lateral damage compensation.’

In a press release, the aggrieved landowners led by Convenor, Kuveluyi Chuzho and Co-Convenor, Lhikupe Kapfo, claimed that the compensation has been delayed by the Nagaland Government and NHIDCL since 2021. It said that despite having carried out verifications and assessments by the District Level Verification Committee since 2021 and submitted to state government and NHIDCL for approval, no concrete solution and payment had been given to the aggrieved landowners. It also mentioned that numerous agitations, request and ultimatums had been made without any positive solution.

“Many Landowners were left with no home to stay since 2021 due to properties damage by the physical work of the EPC contractor,” the press release stated. The landowners said that they “have no more patient to wait but will directly take its own course of action if the state government & NHDICL fail to come up with positive solution at the earliest.”
