AKM informs on altercation between students on 5th Sep

Mokokchung: AKM says it will not tolerate any form of ragging, and students involved will face disciplinary actions

The Office of the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (Ao Students’ Conference) has issued a statement informing the public about an incident where a group of students in uniform were involved in an altercation at Mokokchung Town Park on 5th September 2024.

AKM informed that following the incident, the students were summoned to its Office and that after a thorough review, appropriate disciplinary measures were taken based on the severity of their actions. The students were also provided with counseling, the Union said. Additionally, the students involved in the incident were made to sign a bond of good behavior, committing to uphold respectful conduct in the days to come.

With these steps, the matter has been resolved AKM stated.

On this note, the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang has instructed respective village student unions of the involved parties not to pursue the issue further and warned all students within Mokokchung District that such conduct will not be tolerated and will result in serious consequences.

Furthermore, the union has said that it is aware that ragging practices has been occurring in some schools and hostels and reminded that ragging is a criminal offense and such behavior has no place in a civilized educational environment.

“AKM will not tolerate any form of ragging, and students involved will face disciplinary actions, both under customary law and through legal avenues”, it stated.
