The Office of the All Nagaland Taxi Association, Mokokchung Unit ANTA (M) in a press release condemned the 6 September 2022 incident at Khatkati, Assam, wherein the driver of the taxi was intoxicated and caused much distress to the passengers. The union had been under much scrutiny following a video that went viral on social media platforms.

The video was shot by a clearly upset woman, and it showed a taxi (Tata Sumo) parked on the side of the highway. The woman narrated that they were enroute Mokokchung from Dimapur, but the passengers forced the driver to stop the vehicle in Khatkati as the driver was in no condition to drive.

She claimed that the driver nearly hit other vehicles on the way to the Assam-Nagaland border. The passenger then stated that they had spoken to the owner of the vehicle and a replacement driver was on the way. The woman then showed pictures of the driver sleeping in the front seats of the vehicle.

ANTA (M), in the press release confirmed that the concerned vehicle, Tata Sumo NL 02T 2111, is registered with the association whereas the driver was not. It was added that the accused driver was in Judicial Custody and that necessary actions would be taken against him as well as the owner of the vehicle.

The association also stated that they had interacted with the passengers of the taxi including the woman who shot the video and assured them justice. ANTA (M) expressed that it appreciated the public for having good faith in it and assured to work on maintaining that trust and good relations.
