The combined inaugural function for the Foundation Course Training marked the commencement of the NCS(P) Batch of 2023-24, NPS(P) & BDO(P) Batch of 2023, and the 53rd Batch NSS(P) at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) Nagaland on November 21.
According to DIPR, Akunu S Meyase, Secretary of P&AR, graced the inaugural as the special guest who extended hearty congratulations to the probationers, emphasizing that this training serves as the initial step in their journey as government servants. She expressed optimism that the probationers would evolve into valuable assets for both the government and the public, while also commending the progressive mindset displayed by the probationers regarding their visions for Nagaland.
Addressing the challenges that may arise, Akunu encouraged the probationers not to be disheartened but to approach situations with innovation and a problem-solving mindset. She stressed that simple changes could have a significant impact on governance and urged them to view service to the people as a noble goal. Akunu highlighted the importance of rising to challenges and giving their best efforts, emphasizing on the continuous learning from experienced course coordinators.
Kaholi Sema, Course Coordinator, who is also the Joint Director of ATI, provided an overview of the NSS foundation course, spanning two to three months. The training involves understanding departmental rules, regulations, and district-level workings before placements in different departments, concluding with a final exam.

Alem W. Longchar, Assistant Director of ATI, detailed the NCS course, which is divided into three phases over a year. The phases include cultural and heritage studies, district training with practical learning in various government offices, and attachments to key directorates in Nagaland. Longchar outlined study tours for cultural exposure and a final exam, concluding with probationers sharing their course experiences before being released for duty.
The program was chaired by Additional Director, ATI & Joint Secretary, Labour & Employment, Bendanglila.
