An Awareness-cum-Screening Camp aimed at strengthening public health services and promoting early detection and prevention of communicable diseases was organized at the DC Conference Hall, Kohima on May 19.
The programme was conducted by the District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS (DISHA) in collaboration with the District Administration Kohima and various vertical programmes under the Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Kohima.
During the camp, free, accessible and confidential screening services were provided for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis through Chest X-ray, Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure.

The initiative was organized in line with the national objective of eliminating HIV/AIDS as a public health threat and reducing the burden of communicable diseases through early diagnosis and timely treatment. The programme also supported the Mission AIDS Suraksha 95-95-99 targets aimed at improving detection, treatment and viral suppression among infected individuals.
A total of 102 staff members availed the services provided during the camp, which was led by Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS.
