Awareness kit on births and deaths registration launched in Longleng

Sensitisation posters and pamphlets on the importance of registration of births and deaths were launched by MLA A Pongshi Phom and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Longleng W Manpai Phom on May 17 during the monthly meeting of the Longleng District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) in the presence of MLA B Bangtick Phom.

In his address at the meeting, Phom, who is also the chairman of DPDB Longleng asked all the heads of departments to be present at their place of posting. He also requested the officers to keep both the MLAs updated about the schemes and projects under their departments for better co-ordination.

Following deliberations, the board recommended for establishment of EBRC hall at Bura Namsang. Matter relating to the upgradation of Government Middle School Shamkang to Government High School was differed to the next meeting. In this regard, the DC entrusted the District Education Officer Longleng to examine and find out the details report and present in the next DPDB meeting.

DC Phom also urged the department heads to regularly attend the district level committee meeting in person and not to depute representative or their subordinate officials, since the deliberations required the direct participant and inputs from the members only.

District Sports Officer Longleng informed the house that the Longleng District Taekwondo Association will be hosting the 35th Taekwondo championships in the month of July. On behalf of District Sports Council Longleng, he requested all officers for their cooperation and support during the event.

The department of Evolution presented the departmental activities through powerpoint in the meeting. The chairman entrusted the department of Labour to present their activities in the next meeting.
