The Nagaland Pollution Control Board in collaboration with Pfutsero town council organised an Awareness on Environmental issues on June 17 at Pfutsero town hall. The programme was led by Nuvezo Kotso, Pfutsero Town Councillor, while Mhalo Humtsoe NCS, ADC & Executive Officer Pfutsero Town Council delivered the welcome address.

An awareness presentation on Ambient Air Quality and impact on human health was presented by Ronsenben Longkumer, Junior Scientific Assistant, NPCB and Yanathung Kithan, Scientist ‘B’ NPCB presented the importance of Solid Waste Management and the need of waste segregation at source for effective waste management.

Pfutsero town council highlighted on Bio-Remediation for treatment of waste, awareness for waste collection and waste disposal. Later the NPCB officials visited the Pfutsero Town Council Landfill and appreciated the visible changes on waste management since their visit, two years back.

The NPCB official also had an interaction with scrap dealers and acknowledged their contribution towards waste management. The programme was attended by representative from school, colleges, Government departments, wards’ Chairmen and GBs, PTMA, PTBA, PTYO and PTCSU.
