The Bharatiya Janata Party led Mahayuti alliance is set to sweep Maharashtra Assembly as at 7:00 pm on 23rd November 2024, the BJP has already won 100 seats and leading in at least 30, the Shiv Sena (SHS) has won 47 seats and leading in 10, while another ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has won 37 and leading in 4. There are a total 288 Assembly Constituencies in Maharashtra.
“Development wins! Good governance wins! United we will soar even higher!” Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X platform, expressing gratitude to voters of Maharashtra for the historic mandate to the NDA. “I assure the people that our Alliance will keep working for Maharashtra’s progress,” he added.
To the unpleasant surprise of the Congress-NCP(SP)-Shiv Sena(UBT) alliance, the Maha Vikas Aghadi has so far only managed to win around 40 seats.
“The results of Maharashtra are unexpected. The party is trying to get to the bottom of these results and understand the real reasons,” Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said in a post on X.
Meanwhile in Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) -led INDIA bloc ‘Mahagathbandhan’ has successfully defended against the NDA. At 7:00 pm, JMM has won 33 seats and leading in one while Congress has won 15 and leading in one. The BJP has won 19 seats and leading in one. There are 81 Assembly Constituencies in the State.
PM Modi thanked the people of Jharkhand for their support to BJP and assures “We will always be at the forefront of raising people’s issues and working for the state.” He also congratulated the JMM-led India bloc for the win.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, the BJP co-incharge for Jharkhand Assembly election, stated that the loss is “deeply painful for me personally”. He commended the unwavering dedication and relentless efforts of the party workers in the State and stated, “We fought with a vision to protect the state from infiltration and to lead it on the path of development, fulfilling the aspirations of students and youth.”
