President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kiphire District, Tali C Sangtam has criticized Opposition parties over their stance during the Parliament discussions held on April 16 and 17.
He said that parties such as the Indian National Congress, Samajwadi Party, All India Trinamool Congress, and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam opposed important Bills. According to him, this shows an anti-women mindset and is a betrayal of women across the country.
Sangtam said the discussions on key Bills, including the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, the Delimitation Bill, and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, were important for the country’s democracy and for increasing women’s participation in decision-making.
He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clearly stated that women’s participation in policymaking is their right, not a favour. He warned that those who tried to block such steps may face strong reactions from women voters in the future.

He also mentioned that Union Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that delimitation would not harm any state and that the representation of southern states would remain safe and may even improve.
Sangtam accused the Opposition of creating delays and raising demands like religion-based reservations, which he called unconstitutional and misleading.
He said the BJP is committed to women empowerment and strengthening democracy, and will continue to oppose what it calls anti-women forces. He also expressed confidence that women voters are now more aware and will respond strongly in upcoming elections.
