BJP Nagaland condemns intimidation and assault of its candidate

The Bharatiya Janata Party, Nagaland has condemned the reported incident of intimidation and physical assault involving it party candidate, Mhomo Humtsoe, during the ongoing Ward-8, Tsumang B by-election process on June 16.

Stating that such unfortunate incidents have no place in a healthy democracy, the BJP said elections must remain free, fair, peaceful, and guided by democratic values rather than fear or intimidation.

BJP Nagaland expressed gratitude to the district administration and police authorities for their swift response in apprehending the accused and for imposing Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to maintain law and order and prevent any further disturbance .

In apprehending the accused, the party also urged the authorities to initiate stringent action against the culprit.

The BJP further appealed to all political parties, supporters, and citizens to maintain peace, show restraint, and respect the democratic process.

BJP Nagaland remains committed to peaceful participation and believes that the will of the people should prevail through a fair and transparent electoral process, it added.
