The Chakhesang Cultural Research Institute (CCRI) on August 2 launched  campaign in aid of procuring a permanent plot of land for the institute at the residence of Kudecho Khamo, MLA and Advisor for Civil Administration Works Department (CAWD), in Kohima.

The programme was led by CCRI Managing Director Mesusayi Tetseo, while Convenor of the Finance Committee, Vahine Thisa, presented a brief report on the land procurement project. A dedicatory prayer for the raffle draw ticket sale was offered by Rev Neikko Mero, Senior Pastor of KCBCK, before Kudecho Khamo formally launched the raffle draw ticket.

Addressing the gathering, the organisers appealed to members of the Chakhesang community to extend their support by purchasing raffle draw tickets to help realise the institute’s long-standing goal of acquiring a permanent site.

The organisers stated that the CCRI was established in 1993 with its headquarters at Chetheba to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage, customs and traditional values of the Chakhesang people.

To achieve its objective of securing a permanent plot, the CCRI, in collaboration with its parent body, the Chakhesang Cultural Organisation (CCO), has initiated the raffle draw as a community-driven fundraising effort.

The institute appealed to all Chakhesang brothers and sisters to contribute according to their means, stating that every ticket purchased would support the preservation and promotion of the community’s cultural identity.

The organisers further said the initiative symbolises unity, collective responsibility and progress, while encouraging younger generations to cherish and carry forward the legacy and heritage of their forefathers alongside the changing world.
