In commemoration of the celebration of 150th year of formation which is to be held on 9th November 2024, the Chakhroma Public Organization organized a one-day seminar on 28th September 2024, at CPO Hall, Chümoukedima with Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Rtd), Advisor for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs as the special guest at the inaugural function.
Speaking at the occasion, Zhaleo Rio appreciated the CPO and Organising committee of the 150 years Jubilee for organizing and planning the Jubilee and co-events leading up to the celebration in November. He mentioned that in the past, the plains of Dimapur and far beyond was dominated by the Chakhroma Angamis, but at present many Naga villages has now been established in the plains. He also conveyed appreciation on the friendship between Chakhroma Public Organisation and Western Sumi Hoho setting a good example in fostering peaceful co-existence amongst the Naga Community.
Rio highlighted that Dimapur District was created with Chumoukedima as its District Headquarter, however due to various reasons the District HQ was never functional and said Chümoukedima has been developing rapidly for the last 30 years despite of the challenges. The Advisor also clarified that Chümoukedima District was created purely considering the administrative convenience and there should be no misconception regarding the creation. In conclusion, he conveyed best wishes on the Jubilee Celebration to CPO.
DC, Chümoukedima, Polan John in his address conveyed his greetings on behalf of the district administration and grateful to be a part of this commemorative seminar of 150 years of CPO. He stated that, CPO has a rich history taking back to the British times and the Chakhroma has been the proud village among all Angami regions have been the frontal and encounter tremendous challenges in nurturing the future and ensuring the wellbeing of the community. Today, CPO has played a vital role in paving the way of prosperous change and fostering collective consciousness of many urgent issues among them. He extended his best wishes to the resource persons, CPO and all those involved in organising the seminar and hope that this seminar will led to greater understanding and bring about new consciousness and inspire needful actions as we work together towards a brighter future.

Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, IPS spoke on ‘Challenges before Naga Society’: Fire Prevention & Audit Officer, Nagaland Fire & Emergency services, Kenny Khing spoke on Fire Safety; Sr. Adv. Guwahati High Court Kohima Bench & President, High Court Bar Association, Kohima, Nagaland, Adv. C.T Jamir spoke on “Legal Rights & Responsibilities”; DCP Traffic, Dimapur, Meren Chenth, NPS spoke on “Traffic Safety /Rules” and DoHFW, Kezhangulie Yimchunger spoke on “Food Safety”.
EAC, Seithekema, Er. Seyiekhrietuo Solo also spoke and informed on significance, eligibility and process for availing ST/SC certificate, Indigenous Certificate. Role of Village Councils and leaders in authentication and approval for such documents is very crucial. He requested the Village Council leaders present to be well versed in the roles and Functions of the Village Council.
All the Angami Village Council Chairman, GBs under Chakhroma area and the office bearers and executive members attended the Seminar.
