Citizens will stand behind MP, MLAs, Govt employees from Eastern Nagaland: ENPO

Tuensang: CEC resolution reaffirms ENPO’s assurance to protect any citizen from repercussions for voluntarily not voting

The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) passed a resolution during its Emergency Central Executive Council Meeting that the citizens of Eastern Nagaland would stand behind their Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Members of legislative Assembly and the Government employees in the event that they face any “political challenges”.

This resolution passed 23rd April 2024 reaffirms ENPO’s assurance that any citizen of the region facing repercussion from the government for voluntarily abstaining from the voting, “WOULD STAND PROTECTED” by the people.

It may be reminded that ENPO’ resolution to abstain from participating in any election was peacefully and successfully fulfilled as all polling stations in all six districts recorded ‘NIL’ voting percentage on 19th April 2024 when the Lok Sabha election was held.

The apex tribal body had earlier appealed to the Legislators from the region to stay indoors while pointing out that standing united in the protest was important to send a “powerful message to the outside world about the strength of our community and our unwavering determination to secure a better future for ourselves and generations to come.”

Eastern Nagaland is presently under ‘Public Emergency’ demanding for the Government of India to keep its promise to deliver ‘Frontier Nagaland Territory’ to the seven tribes with separate administration and funding.
