The Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, on Sunday, extended appreciation to the North East Sports Association on behalf of the State Government for the successful conduct of the recently concluded 3rd North East Games 2024, hosted by Nagaland.
The games, which were held from March 18 to 23, witnessed the participation of the eight states of the North Eastern region, competing in 15 sports disciplines. More than 3000 athletes, officials, technical delegates and participants from all over the region and different parts of the country, and even abroad, made the third edition of the North East Games a grand success. “The positive feedback of the participants and officials on the overall organisation of the games clearly indicated that the games have been a huge success from all angles. “The state sports associations, national federations, technical officials, volunteers and the Department of Youth Resources & Sports have all carried out their responsibilities in a successful manner. We extend our appreciation to our partners and vendors; our institution partners and the sponsors who collaborated with us,” expressed Rio.
The Chief Minister also extended gratitude to the State Olympic Associations of the participating states and the North East Sports Association (NESA) for extending positive support and solidarity to Nagaland and the organising committee on all fronts.

“We are touched by the support extended by the Honourable President of India, the Honourable Prime Minister, the Honourable Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, the President of the Indian Olympic Association, my colleague Chief Ministers of the region and other dignitaries for their messages of solidarity,” said Rio.
The CM also shared sincere appreciation to the citizens of the State, the local communities and their leaders, especially in areas where the games were held for extending positive cooperation and assistance. “We are grateful to the churches, civil societies, NGOs and all believers who have supported us in various ways and especially in prayer support,” stated Rio.
He also commended the efficient and professional team of the Nagaland Olympic Association, under whose exemplary leadership, have worked tirelessly for months and weeks to ensure the successful execution of the games.
“The success of the Games is a collective achievement of all citizens of Nagaland. These games have not only enhanced the foundations of sports development in the North East but also strengthened the bonds of unity and oneness amongst all eight states, exemplifying the motto of the Nagaland Olympic Association, which is Stronger Together.
Our biggest congratulations goes to all the athletes who made the event a remarkable success. We must all commend the excellent performance of the Nagaland contingent who performed exceptionally well by finishing in the 1 st Runner Up position with our best ever performance and highest medal haul. They have made all of us proud and joyous,” expressed Rio.
