Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed his happiness with the ongoing preparations for the 24th Hornbill Festival. According to DIPR, he remarked that the 2023 edition of the annual festival will be “grand” and hoped for more success as the 24th jubilee will be celebrated in 2024.
Addressing a meeting with line departments/ sectoral departments to discuss the preparation for the celebration of Hornbill Festival 2023 at Bamboo Heritage Hall, Kisama on Friday, Rio also informed that many diplomats from other countries will be attending the festival and urged all concerned to solve any problems or issues with sincerity.
CM Rio appealed to the citizens to help and guide the tourists so that they have a pleasant stay and take away fond memories of Nagaland. Further, he highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness and called upon the gathering to create awareness. Rio also urged the business community to price their products decently.
Moreover, the Chief Minister welcomed the resolution made by the Eastern Nagaland People Organization (ENPO) to participate in the Hornbill Festival 2023.
During the day, the Chief Minister also inspected and took stock of the work progress and preparedness at Kisama.
According to DIPR, Minister for Tourism, Temjen Imna Along speaking at the program appreciated Rio for envisioning the Hornbill Festival and bringing all the tribes together to showcase their rich culture and traditions, and also providing a platform to the local entrepreneurs. He also appreciated the line departments for their effort to make the festival a success and asked them to continue the good work.
Chief Secretary, J Alam, IAS, highlighted the progress of the works carried out by concerned departments. He stated that with the participation of all the tribes, the festival will be celebrated in a grand manner. Alam called upon everyone to showcase the State in the best light. He also assured that all the concerned departments are working hard to the best of their ability.
The line departments such as Tourism, Art & Culture, Agri & Allied Departments etc. highlighted the progress and activities to be taken up by the respective departments. Vote of thanks was proposed by Secretary, Tourism.
Also, during the day, Chief Minister Rio inaugurated the Food and Music Festival at imagi.LAND, Kisama.
DIPR informed that the Food and Music Festival is ‘Prelude to Hornbill Festival’ and is being held for two days, on 24th and 25th November 2023. The events will include live music concerts, food stalls, kid’s carnival, art installations, book corner, and many more.
The event is being organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and Nagaland Tourism.
