CM Rio visits Mao Market site after fire incident

Kohima: Around 200 shops were reportedly destroyed by the blaze along with some residences

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday visited the Mao Market fire incident site and took stock of situation from the Fire & Emergency Services and Kohima District Administration, a DIPR report stated.

CM Rio met the affected families whose shops and residences were burnt down in the massive fire incident on Monday evening.

Rio announced that Rs. 20 Lakh from Chief Minister Relief Fund will be provided as financial assistance to the affected families who were victims of the unfortunate incident.

Around 200 shops were reportedly destroyed by the blaze along with some residences.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by DC Kohima, Shanavas C IAS, SP Kohima, Imnalensa, Kohima Village T Khel council members, and other government officials.

The inferno reportedly started around 5:00 pm and it took the joint forces of the Fire and Emergency Service Department, the Assam Rifles, Nagaland Police and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA)s and the Public several hours to douse it.
