Conclusion of the ‘Two Days Online National Hindi Seminar’ at Hindi Department, Kohima Campus, Nagaland University

Kohima: Event enriches understanding of role of Hindi language in North-East region

The ‘Two Days Online National Hindi Seminar,’ organized by the Hindi Department at Kohima Campus, Nagaland University, concluded successfully on 31st August 2024. The seminar, held on 30th and 31st August, revolved around the theme “Hindi Language in North-East India,” with various sub-topics explored during the sessions, the PRO, NU informed.

The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha, In-charge Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, who delivered a brief yet insightful speech on the central theme. Prof. Jano S. Liegise, Dean of the School of Humanities and Education, also participated, expressing her views on the significance of the Hindi language in the region.

The seminar was convened by Dr. Munni Choudhary, Head of the Department of Hindi, who provided an overview of the event. The two-day seminar was structured into four different sessions, each focusing on specific aspects of the main theme. He also informed that scholars presented their research papers during the seminar.

On the first day, the seminar welcomed special guests Prof. Dinesh Kumar Choubey from the Hindi Department at NEHU and Prof. Vinod Mishra from the Hindi Department at Tripura University. Both speakers delivered engaging and informative talks on the topics assigned to their sessions.

The second day featured keynote speakers Prof. Jai Kaushal, Head of the Hindi Department at Assam University, and Dr. Abhishek Yadav from the Hindi Department at Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar. They highlighted the importance of the Hindi language and the role of translation studies in today’s world.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks, delivered by Dr. Anuj Kumar and Dr. Brijesh Kumar, both Assistant Professors in the Hindi Department at Nagaland University. The chairperson for the sessions was Ashish Kumar, a Research Scholar in the Hindi Department at Nagaland University.

The seminar saw active participation, with more than 50 attendees, including scholars, faculty members, and students, who contributed to the success of this academic event. The discussions and presentations over the two days enriched the participants’ understanding of the role of the Hindi language in the North-East region.
