Congress files FIR against four including a Union Minister over threats against LoP Rahul Gandhi

Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken a police complaint today against BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah, MLA (Maharashtra) Sanjay Gaikwad, Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Bittu and Minister (Uttar Pradesh) Raghuraj Singh for their threats against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

In the complaint, Maken stated that the “statements/ threats issued by various BJP Leaders and its allies, calling for assassination and/or bodily injury onto Shri Rahul Gandhi and also calling the Leader of Opposition of the country a terrorist, exhibits personal hatred by the BIP/ NDA alliance partners against Shri Gandhi and such utterances are made only with the aim to cause unrest among the general masses to provoke rioting, breach of peace etc. through the hate filled remarks.”

On 11th September 2024, BJP Leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah had he said that “Rahul Gandhi you better behave, or you will meet the same fate as your grandmother”. Later, on 16th September, Sanjay Gaikwad, MLA, Shinde Sena publicly announced a bounty of Rs. 11 lakhs for anyone who will cut the tongue of LoP Gandhi. On 15th September, MoS for Railways Ravneet Bittu, while speaking publicly to media, called Gandhi “number one terrorist of the country” and similarly, on 16th September, BJP Leader and UP Minister Raghuraj Singh also publicly said that Gandhi is the “number one terrorist of India”.

These comments are related to Gandhi’s recently concluded trip to the United States of America during which he made statements on the Sikhs in India, reservation, democracy for which he has been strongly criticized by the ruling party.
