The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima has issued an order directing occupants/residents of the houses and shops located along the NH-29 landslide-affected area to vacant their houses/shops without further delay and to move to a safer zone.
In a order issued today, the DC informed that a physical assessment of the landslide affected area near Dzüdza bridge along NH-29 (KM 163+980 to KM 164+030) was undertaken by the district administration, police, DDMA and NHIDCL on August 17. Following the assessment, it has been reported that there is occurrence of a high magnitude landslide which may worsen with heavy rainfall.

It stated that the continuing downhill movement of debris/slurry is likely to result in damage or destruction along the affected area, and that concerted action plan is being implemented to manage and mitigate the severity of the landslide.
“And whereas, it is of utmost urgency to mitigate the risk of landslide on the affected community and prevent any loss of life or suffering. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under Sec. 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, it is ordered that the occupants/residents of the house/shops located along the NH-29 landslide-affected area vacate their houses/shops without further delay and to relocate to a safer zone,” informed the DC.
