Deputy Commissioner Peren, Hiazu Meru, has issued an advisory stating that the general public are using social media platforms to spread unverified information, which has the potential to create disharmony in society and is viewed seriously.
According to the advisory, citizens of Peren district have been advised to exercise utmost caution and responsibility while using social media platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, X (Twitter), YouTube and other digital communication platforms.

The advisory directed all individuals to verify the authenticity and accuracy of any information, news, photographs, videos or messages before sharing, forwarding, uploading or publishing the same. Citizens have also been advised not to create, circulate or promote any content that may incite communal tension, violence, hatred, enmity between communities, or disturb law and order in any manner.
Further, it stated that any violation of the directives would attract action under the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and other relevant laws, rules and regulations in force.
