DC Phek informs on outbreak of African Swine Fever

Deputy Commissioner Phek, Rhosietho Nguori has informed the general public that the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) has been reported at Khuza Village under Phek district.

The positive outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) at Khuza Village was reported from the office of the Chief Veterinary Officer, Phek. In this regard, the undermentioned areas i.e (i) Khuza village covering 1 KM radius as Infected Zone and (ii) Khutsokhumo, Mutsale, Phek Town, Phugwi, Sohomi villages, 10 KM from infected zone as Surveillance Zone are notified as Infected Zone and Surveillance Zone respectively.

In this connection, ban on slaughter, import and export of pigs and piglets, and ban on transport of pigs and pork have been strictly enforced in the aforementioned locations with immediate effect till further order.

Further, it advised the public to be cautious and any suspicious behaviours or suspected death of pigs due to African Swine Fever (ASF) should be immediately report to the Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer, Phek.
