DC Shamator inspects landslide-affected stretches along NH-202

Deputy Commissioner, Shamator, Arikumba, NCS conducted an inspection of the landslide-affected areas along National Highway-202 to assess the extent of damage and review the restoration measures being undertaken on July 24.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by officials from the District Administration, National Highways, and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). During the inspection, the team visited vulnerable stretches affected by recent heavy rainfall and assessed the condition of the road, drainage, and slope stability.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned agencies to take immediate measures to ensure the safety of commuters and expedite restoration works at the affected locations. He also stressed the importance of close coordination among all departments and agencies concerned to facilitate timely clearance of debris, improve drainage where necessary, and minimise disruptions to vehicular movement along the highway.

The District Administration continues to monitor the situation closely and has appealed to commuters to exercise caution while travelling through landslide-prone areas, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.
