The Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) has expressed serious concern over the deplorable condition of several important roads in and around Dimapur, causing immense hardship to commuters, students, office-goers, business establishments, and the general public.
It said the road stretch from Purana Bazaar to Supermarket has deteriorated drastically despite being repaired and developed only recently. “The road is now riddled with potholes, uneven surfaces, and damaged sections, raising serious questions regarding the quality of workmanship and the proper utilization of public funds,” the DDCC stated.
DDCC also drew the attention of the concerned authorities to the road leading to the New Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Dimapur, at Purana Bazaar, which it said remains in a pathetic condition.
“As an important administrative route frequented by government officials and citizens alike, the continued neglect of this road reflects poorly on the state of public infrastructure management,” it stated.
It further stated that the Niuland Road, which was constructed recently, has already developed numerous potholes and damaged stretches, making travel unsafe and uncomfortable.

The DDCC strongly appealed to the concerned authorities, including the Public Works Department and district administration, to urgently undertake repair and restoration works on these roads.
It also called for a thorough assessment of the quality of construction and accountability of contractors wherever substandard work is found.
Stating that the people of Dimapur and Niuland deserve safe, durable, and quality road infrastructure, the DDCC urged the government to take immediate action and address these issues without further delay in the interest of the public.
