The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Wokha, convened a monsoon preparedness meeting at the DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha on May 19 to review readiness measures ahead of the rainy season.
Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao, NCS, addressed the meeting and emphasized the importance of early preparedness. He highlighted the need to assess the availability of essential commodities such as food grains, LPG, fuel, and medicines, as well as the condition of roads and infrastructure across the district.
The meeting discussed in detail the availability of food grains, fuel, LPG, and essential drugs, along with the maintenance of National Highways, State, and District roads. Specific concerns were raised regarding the NH-2 Doyang land sinking areas, drainage clearance in Wokha and Bhandari towns, and the status of construction works including culverts and retaining walls. Preparedness measures related to the Doyang River Dam were also thoroughly deliberated.

As part of the initiative and preparedness, a mass social work will be conducted across Wokha district on May 23, 2026, to strengthen community preparedness and ensure cleanliness in vulnerable areas.
