DEF Mokokchung has conveyed its gratitude to all involved in the containment of the fire that broke out below Firing Range at New Reserve, Mokokchung on 26 March 2025.

In a press release, Addl. Superintendent of Police & PRO, Mokokchung, stated that the wildfire was reported at around 9:00 am on Wednesday and on receipt of the report Fire & Emergency Services were immediately informed and all available Police personnel were deployed to bring the fire under control. Despite the challenging task due to the strong winds, the fire was finally doused at around 4:30 pm with the help of volunteers from neighbouring villages and departments, the Addl. Superintendent of Police & PRO stated.

It was also informed that no loss of lives or property was reported due to the timely intervention of the following departments and volunteers:

1. Fire & Emergency Services, Mokokchung
2. SDRF, Mokokchung.
3. C/173 CRPF, Mokokchung.
4. 12 Assam Rifles, Mokokchung.
5. D Coy 14 NAP (IR) C/ Mokokchung.
6. District Administration.
7. DEF Mokokchung Police personnel.
8. Volunteers from Chuchuyimpang, Mokokchung, Khensa, Ungma, Sungratsu and Mopungchuket Villages.
