DIC Dimapur, NPCB hold awareness programme for stone crusher units under NCAP

The District Industries Centre (DIC), Dimapur, in association with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), organised a special awareness and sensitisation programme for stone crusher units under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) at the Conference Hall of Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, on August 5, 2026.

The programme was chaired by N Abeno Lotha, Functional Manager, DIC Dimapur, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of creating awareness among stone crusher unit owners and operators on environmental protection and sustainable industrial practices.

Delivering the keynote address, Chikuotho Nyusuo, General Manager, DIC Dimapur, emphasised the need to strike a balance between industrial growth and environmental conservation. He encouraged stone crusher operators to adopt environmentally responsible practices and comply with statutory environmental regulations to ensure sustainable development.

Speaking on “Ambient Air Quality and its Impact,” Olivia Chophy, Senior Scientific Assistant, NPCB, highlighted the adverse effects of air pollution caused by dust emissions from stone crusher units. She explained the importance of maintaining ambient air quality and outlined the objectives and role of the Nagaland Pollution Control Board in safeguarding the environment.

During the technical session on “Environmental Compliance of Stone Crusher Units,” Mvudzeyu Shuya, Scientist ‘B’, NPCB, elaborated on the environmental laws and regulatory requirements applicable to stone crusher units. She stressed the importance of obtaining the necessary statutory consents from the Pollution Control Board, implementing effective pollution control measures, maintaining environmental records, and adhering to prescribed standards to prevent legal action and protect public health.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Jethro Mesen, Functional Manager, DIC Dimapur, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, participants and all stakeholders for their active participation and support.
