Dimapur 24/7 successfully organized a workshop on men’s mental health at KPCI – Vision Success Institute, Dimapur on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The organisers stated in a press release that the session was aimed to address the stigma surrounding men’s mental well-being, to explore key psychological challenges, and to create a safe space for discussions on the subject.

The resource person, Alokali Zhimomi (B.Th, M.Div., Masters in Pastoral Counselling), provided valuable insights into stress management and emotional well-being among men. She highlighted the root causes of societal stigma, ego, and emotional barriers that often discourage men from seeking help. Emphasizing the need for open discussions, Zhimomi encouraged participants to challenge traditional notions of masculinity that hinder emotional expression.

She stated that the societal pressure on men to suppress their emotions has long been a barrier to their mental well-being, and stressed that it is time we create spaces where men feel safe to share and seek help without fear of judgment.

Annie Jain, Chairperson of Dimapur 24/7, stressed that discussions on men’s mental health often do not receive the attention they deserve, making it essential to create platforms for open dialogue and support. She urged government authorities and educational institutions to conduct awareness drives in schools and colleges across the state to address the growing mental health concerns among young people. Additionally, she highlighted the significant gap between personal awareness of mental health issues and the expert guidance provided by mental health professionals, underlining the need for professional intervention and education.
