A joint meeting of the District Task Force (DTF) for Routine Immunization (RI) and Urban Immunization was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Dimapur, on June 3, 2025. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Rongsennungla, District Program Officer (DPO) for RCH-UIP, who welcomed the attendees and provided an overview of the district’s current immunization status.
Rajesh Monsang, Regional Program Officer (RPO) of UNDP, gave detailed presentations on two major digital platforms enhancing India’s immunization efforts—eVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network) and U-WIN.
Explaining the eVIN system, he said it enables real-time monitoring and management of cold chain points by using digital sensors that track vaccine storage temperatures and issue alerts in case of deviations. This ensures vaccines remain effective and are stored safely. eVIN also manages stock levels, expiry dates, and distribution data, providing valuable insights into logistics and areas needing improvement.
He also elaborated on the U-WIN portal, a nationwide digital platform launched on January 11, 2023, and fully rolled out by August 7, 2023, to digitize the entire immunization process. U-WIN maintains a centralized database accessible from anywhere in the country and allows real-time updating of vaccination records, issuance of e-Vaccination Certificates, and tracking of due beneficiaries through automated due lists.
In Dimapur district, 72 public health facilities, 13 private health facilities, and 298 session sites are currently utilizing the U-WIN portal. An Annual Head Count Survey is underway to identify eligible beneficiaries and support the creation of an informed microplan for immunization delivery in the district.
Zakabo V Rotokha, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dimapur, lauded the effectiveness and practicality of the U-WIN portal and eVaccination certificates in ensuring proper tracking of vaccines and beneficiaries.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr Temsu Longkumer, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur, who expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner and his team for supporting the smooth conduct of the head count survey.
Other attendees included Dr Kavito Zhimomi, DPO-CD-I; Limasangla, CDPO (Urban); representatives from Lions Club Dimapur; and staff under the office of the CMO, Dimapur.
