Commissionerate of Police, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Medicine, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) conducted a two-day training programme for traffic personnel as first responders to road traffic accident sites on July 23 and 24.

During the workshop, traffic police personnel received structured hands-on training in emergency trauma care and pre-hospital stabilisation of road traffic accident victims.

Road traffic accidents continue to claim numerous lives and leave many others permanently disabled. In many cases, fatalities and lifelong disabilities occur due to delayed or improper handling of victims immediately after a crash.

Traffic personnel are often the first responders to reach accident sites and play a primary role in the rescue, extraction, stabilisation and transportation of accident victims to hospitals. Equipping them with emergency care skills enables them to provide timely and appropriate interventions during the critical golden hour, significantly improving the chances of survival and reducing the risk of long-term disability.

Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, AotulaImchen, IPS expressed her appreciation to the Director and staff of CIHSR, Department of Emergency Medicine for partnering in this important road safety initiative. The programme marked a significant step towards strengthening emergency response capabilities and enhancing trauma care outcomes for road accident victims in Nagaland.

At the conclusion of the training programme, all the 25 participating personnel were presented with certificates of participation.
