Dimapur-based part-time content creator and YouTuber, Kewe Mero has once again demonstrated the power of social media and community support, raising ₹4,66,606 in six days to support the medical treatment of 26-year-old lupus patient Bendangla Jamir from Mokokchung district.

Bendangla, who is currently residing at Diphupar B, Dimapur, has been undergoing treatment at Apollo Excelcare Hospital, Guwahati. Doctors had advised her to undergo follow-up consultations every three months. However, due to severe financial constraints, her family could not take her for the scheduled follow-up in February and has since been unable to resume her treatment.

Her parents, who work as caretakers at a local church, have struggled to meet the family’s medical and other expenses. With no means to bear the mounting treatment costs, the family approached Mero for assistance.

Responding to the request, Mero launched a fundraising campaign through his YouTube and Instagram platforms from the evening of August 1 to August 7, 2026. His appeal received an overwhelming response, with people from across the region contributing towards Bendangla’s treatment.

Within just six days, the campaign raised ₹4,66,606, providing much-needed financial support to the young patient and her family.

This is not Mero’s first fundraising effort. Over the years, he has used his social media platforms to mobilise financial assistance for individuals facing serious medical and financial hardships.

Among his notable campaigns, Mero raised ₹13,14,059 in four days for a three-year-old leukemia patient in May 2025, ₹9,64,018 for a brain tumour patient in August 2025 and ₹4,30,447 for another lupus patient in 2024.

Speaking on the latest campaign, Mero said he was deeply moved by the generosity of those who came forward to support Bendangla.

“I am deeply moved by the generosity of everyone who came forward to help. Your contributions will make a significant difference in Bendangla’s life. Thank you for keeping Bendangla in your prayers,” he said.

A sociologist by academic background, Mero studied at St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, Savitribai Phule Pune University and Bosco College of Teacher Education. He has been involved in various social initiatives and was honoured with the Knowledge Creator Award at the Nagaland Influencers Summit 2025.

His latest initiative highlights how digital platforms can be effectively used beyond entertainment and content creation to mobilise communities and provide tangible support to people in need.

The response to the campaign also underscores the strength of collective compassion, demonstrating how small individual contributions can come together to make a significant difference in the life of someone facing a medical crisis.
