The monthly meeting of the District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) Kohima was held at the DPDB Hall, Kohima on May 26 with Deputy Commissioner & Vice-Chairman DPDB Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS, chairing the meeting.
Reviewing the previous DPDB meeting, ADC Kohima, Ruopfûkuotuo Noudi, NCS, gave a presentation on the upcoming blood donation campaign. He informed that the campaign is an initiative of DPDB Kohima and requested all district offices to bring at least five members each for blood donation. The camp is scheduled to be held at the Capital Cultural Hall on June 12, 2026, with Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav, as the special guest.
The board also recommended Widows Nouzhie Society, Hospital Colony, Kohima, for society registration.
On the issue of water supply to the 10th NAP (IR) Headquarters at Zhadima, EE PHED, Er. Sedevilie Suohu, informed that the provision under JJM-I has already been saturated. However, he said the proposal could be recommended to the Centre for inclusion under JJM-II for water connectivity.
DEO Kohima, Emilo Patton, presented a report on the introduction of the Arts stream at GHSS Kigwema and the Science stream at GHSS Jotsoma. Both schools were found to have fulfilled the required criteria, and the board decided to recommend the introduction of the respective streams.
The District Planning & Development Board, Kohima felicitated Visezono Vakha for her outstanding performance in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2026.
Visezono Vakha, daughter of Kepecato Vakha and a student of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima, secured the highest aggregate score of 92.1 per cent among all Government High Schools in Kohima district.
In recognition of her exceptional academic achievement and brilliance, the DPDB Kohima conferred upon her a Certificate of Merit. She was also presented a cash award of ₹30,000 during the meeting.
Assistant Electoral Officer (AEO) Kohima, Chisho, presented the process and timeline of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll during the meeting.
He informed that Kohima district has 189 polling stations across six Assembly Constituencies, including three newly recognised polling stations added last year. Stressing the need for the SIR exercise, Chisho said it was necessitated due to rapid urbanisation, migration, multiple entries in electoral rolls, and concerns regarding the quality of electoral rolls.
He stated that the qualifying date for the revision is October 1, 2026, and house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be conducted from August 6 to September 14. The draft electoral roll will be published on September 28, while the final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on November 22.
The AEO explained that electors have been categorised based on their linkage with the 2005 electoral roll and informed that around 79.44 per cent mapping has been achieved so far. He added that electors who cannot be linked with the 2005 roll would be issued hearing notices for verification of eligibility.

Chisho also clarified that Aadhaar would only be accepted as proof of identity and not as proof of citizenship, address, or date of birth. He further assured that Electoral Registration Officers would ensure that no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible person is included in the electoral roll.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Sr. SP) Kohima, Krodi Rhetso, highlighted the law and order situation in the district during the meeting.
He stated that Kohima, being the state capital, faces unique security challenges due to the presence of various criminal elements. He informed that police recently arrested several anti-social elements and are closely monitoring illegal activities, including reports of illegal taxation in Kohima town.
On the Manipur situation, the Sr. SP informed that many heavy vehicles remain stranded along National Highway-2 and said police personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of stranded drivers. He also appealed to the public and media to refrain from spreading provocative messages on social media that could disturb peace and harmony in the district.
In the next DPDB meeting, Kohima Municipal Council will be giving a PowerPoint presentation focusing on Solid Waste Management Rules.

The monthly meeting of the Mon District Planning & Development Board was held on May 26 at DC’s Conference Hall, Mon. The Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman DPDB, Wennyei Konyak, NCS presided over the proceeding. He welcomed the members and called upon the new members for self-introduction, accordingly six new members introduced themselves.
Reviewing the last meeting minutes, Creation of GPS at Longwa Lailo Village, proposal by Advisor Treasuries & Accounts, Art and Culture, K Konngam Konyak and the re-approval of Elementary School at Chingai Ward, Mon Town were recommended by the board after the verification reports were presented by the District Education Officer.
MLA, C Manpon Konyak proposed a new road to be included under the urban road at Aboi Town. The proposed new roads were: – GHSS Junction to Salom Orphanage Home via Keiha Ward & Koiwang Ward; Pinkhong (NH) to Yongkim ward junction via Soil office, Shamang Ward, Hahnyan Ward and Mansham Ward; Hahnyan ward (Chaoha Morung) to Ayoiyang Ward (St. John School) & Police Station; Keiha Ward to Chinglong Road; and NH to Keiha Ward via Urban Cemetery. The House after deliberation decided to recommend to the government for inclusion of the new road under Urban Road.
The board also recommended the proposal for the Change of Nomenclature from Shangnyu Village and Shangnyu EAC HQ to Sangnu Village and Sangnu EAC HQ.
The proposal for Provisional recognition of class VIII of St. Paul School, Angjangyang, was forwarded to the higher up after deliberation for approval.
The Department of Horticulture gave a PowerPoint Presentation on their departmental activities. The Deputy Commissioner assigned Agriculture and Veterinary Departments to Present their department activities in the next DPDB Meeting. DC also reminded about the upcoming World Environment Day and urged all the members to observe it with a purpose.
