Entrepreneurs Associates Natural Food & Handicraft Enterprise (EANFER) exhibited the digitalised handloom at the Paris’ Texworld, held at the Porte De Versailles, France from the 1st to 3rd of July, 2024. The digitalised handloom called “Rira”, a traditional Chakhesang shawl for men, woven with the IoT (Internet of Things) device was showcased at Texworld Paris 2024, The Entrepreneurs Associates informed.
The weaver, Zevelou Lasuh, from Thetsumi Village, expressed her joy and honour in being part of the project under NEHHDC in collaboration with tEA although she could not attend the event in person.
This achievement is the result of the partnership signed between The Entrepreneurs Associates with North-eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) a year ago for a project titled “Market Development through Digitalization, Authentication, and Implementation of Traceability in the Handloom Sector Weavers of North-eastern States.” Under this project, tEA has successfully mobilized and verified 1325 weavers in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland.
In May 2024, the project initiated the installation IoT of (Internet of Things) devices for testing with six weavers in two districts, enhancing our technological reach, tEA informed.
The IoT device is revolutionizing the handloom sector by integrating AI capabilities into the digitalization of handloom practices in the NER. The device provides a tag with a QR code, allowing buyers to view details and pictures of the weaver, the type of fabric or yarn used, and a short video of the weaver crafting the product by hand. This authentication process enables higher pricing, thereby increasing the income of the weavers.
In its quest to create a platform for local handicrafts in the global market, Neikule Doulo; The Entrepreneurs Associates’ Executive Director and EANFER Director showcased textiles and craftsmanship at the Paris’ Texworld Apparel Sourcing 2024 where EANFER’s first digitalised handloom was displayed.
