On the evening of September 21, a joint raid on booze joints was conducted by the Mokokchung Police, IR and 2nd NAP personnel in Mokokchung Town and various towns in the District. During the exercise, eight people were arrested for selling and stocking illegal IMFL or various brands. Accordingly, eight cases were registered against them under NLTP Act. The total seized IMFL are (l ) MC Rum- 742 Bottles, (2) Beer- 240 cans, (3) Whiskey- 158 Bottles and (4) Vodka- 58 Bottles, informed a press release by the Sr. Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung.
The press release also mentioned that the Police will conduct similar raids to check illegal flow of IMFL in the district in the future.

In a separate incident on September 21, at around 1800 Hrs, Mokokchung Police while conducting routine checking near Impur Junction Mokokchung intercepted one Bolero Pickup B/R No. AS03 CC 3775 and recovered huge quantity of illegal IMFL from the vehicle. The seized IMFL were (a) MC Rum- 57 cases of 375 ML (1368 bottles), (b) Kingfisher Beer20 cases of 500 ML (480 Cans). The driver and the owner of the consignment namely (l) Yungiz Lomo (36 Yrs) S/o- Nongsu V/o- Waoshu PS- Tuensang and (2) Sanjib Tanti (29 Yrs) Slo- Kameshwar V/o- New Sonowal PS- Mariani, Assam were arrested and a Criminal case has been registered under NLTP Act at Mokokchung Police Station I for further investigation.
