Emergency Relief Fund distributed to landslide affected families

The District Administration and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Longleng, along with Phomla Hoichem and the Phom Students’ Conference (PSC), disbursed Emergency Relief Fund (ERF) assistance and ration relief to the landslide-affected families of Alayung, Yaongyimchen, Yachem, and Noksosang villages on July 30.

The relief was provided to families whose houses were damaged and/or rendered unsafe due to landslides and ground subsidence that occurred from July 19 onwards.

The village-wise details of the damages and the affected population are as follows:

At Alayung Village 6 houses were severely damaged, 31 residential houses located in vulnerable zones and evacuated, total population affected were 143. At Yaongyimchen Village, residential houses located in vulnerable zones were 12, residential house located in a vulnerable zone and evacuated was one and total population affected were 42. At Yachem Village, four families were affected by landslides, Total population affected were 23. At Noksosang Village, one residential house was partially damaged due to cracks caused by ground subsidence and total population affected were seven.

In total, 55 households/families across the four villages have been affected, with a combined affected population of 215 persons comprising 105 males and 110 females.
