Every city has its own character and Kohima reflects the entire Nagas: Advisor Kekhrie Yhome, NDPP felicitates elected councillors

The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Kohima Region, Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elected councillors felicitation program was held at NDPP Conference hall, Kohima on July 3.

“Politics is not a one man win but the entire group and party working together. The NDPP has shown great example in this election,” said Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio while addressing the gathering as Special Guest.

Rio acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the party workers in the ULB election and also congratulated the winning candidates.

Reminding  the people that NDPP was formed to safeguard the history, tradition, culture, and to protect the rights of the people, Rio called upon the gathering to work for the common good and the benefit  of the  people, to make sure that these rights, values and legacy make are protected.

He encouraged the newly elected candidates and councillors to work for the people and region, and to strengthen its grassroots.

“The then Municipal Act had costs the government and the people to the extent of losing lives and the present government had repealed the central law and subsequently the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023 was passed based on the consulative meetings,” stated Rio. On the Tax issue, the CM maintained that the taxes collected will be utilised for beautification of towns and expressed optimism that the people will cooperate. Trainings will be provided to the councillors and coaching will be imparted for the smooth functioning of the Municipalities and town councils, briefed the CM, adding that they also looked forward to initiate the Anti defection law very soon. Rio also commended Chiephobozou for setting a good example and letting all their candidate win unopposed.

A speech on behalf of Legislators was delivered by Minister Horticulture & Women Resource Development Salhoutuono Kruse who thanked the people for completing a peaceful election. Kruse also thanked the other candidate who made it possible for the NDPP candidates to win unopposed and said the people had shown great example with unity.

“The candidates who participated and won this year are the bleseed ones because they are  winning after 20 years and they will need to work for the people,” said Kruse appealing them to work hard with dedication and determination.

The character of our city will reflect the foundation,” remarked the Advisor, School Education & SCERT Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome who expressed hope that the winning candidates will work for the betterment and development of Kohima.

A speech on behalf of Councillors was delivered by Neikhozo Suokhrie  said they are looking forward to work for the betterment of the people alongside the leaders of the party and the leaders. “We are ready to work for the people and development of Kohima.

We also request the leaders under the leadership of CM to help the councillors for betterment of Kohima,” said Suokhrie.

Thenusoü Sekhose Yhome thanked the Chief Minister and his colleagues for their inclusive approach. “History has been created under your leadership this election,” said Yhome who assured to work for the development of Kohima, tackle challenges and improve ratings of the smart city development.

On behalf of Chiephobozou, Kekhrieneinuo Zumvü thanked  the Chief Minister and his team for introducing 33 percent reservation for women and for including Chiephobozou in their Felicitation.

The program was earlier blessed with invocation by Central Christian Revival Church, D. Block Pastor Videkho Mekro. NDPP Vocal Band Thejasilie Sekhose and Kezhiah Semy presented a special song. Kechangulie  Kense, General Secretary, NDPP Kohima region pronounced the vote of thanks.  The Chiephobozou town council members and Kohima region were felicitated in the program. Prasielie Pienyü, President NDPP Kohima Region and Chairman NHHDC Ltd chaired the program.
