Fake ‘Army Duty’ vehicle busted with empty liquor bottles in Mokokchung, 4 held

Mokokchung Police intercepted a vehicle allegedly impersonating an “On Army Duty” vehicle and recovered 184 bags containing around 15,824 empty bottles of Mc. Dowell rum during a surprise checking conducted at Sewak Gate area on May 8 at around 9 p.m.

According to a press release issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, the intercepted vehicle was a TATA vehicle bearing registration number AS 25 DC 9621.

Police stated that the empty bottles are suspected to have been brought for use in adulteration or manufacturing of liquor.

Four persons were apprehended in connection with the case. They were identified as Rongsentoshi Ao

(29) of Ungma village under Mokokchung district, Limanungsang (26) of Sungratsu village under

Mokokchung district, Hassan Ali (25) of Barjabari under Nalbari district, Assam, and Ruhul Amin (27) of

Barjabari under Nalbari district, Assam.

Police informed that a case has been registered under the NLTP Act and investigation is underway.
