A farewell programme was held on August 31 at the Transport Commissionerate Conference Hall, Kohima in honour of Transport Commissioner, Elias T Lotha and Typist (Special Grade), Khodi Angami, both of whom are superannuating service.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Transport Department, Zhothisa Dawhuo said the contributions and sacrifices made by the two officers over the course of their careers would long be remembered by the department. He expressed happiness that both were retiring in good health, and urged all present to work towards the same, keeping their well-being in mind through the years of service ahead.
He conveyed the warm regards and best wishes of the department and its staff to both retiring officials as they begin this new phase of their lives.
Additional Transport Commissioner, Keneingunuo Clara, delivering the felicitation address, called upon those gathered to celebrate the remarkable journey of the two officers, and praised their unwavering dedication through 35 years of service. Describing the outgoing Commissioner as a humble and God-fearing individual, she extended her prayers and good wishes for his new chapter in life.

She further remarked that Lotha had proved himself an able and effective team leader, whose guidance and efforts had helped bring the department on par with its counterparts across the country. Among his notable achievements, she credited him with achieving a breakthrough in the department’s long-pending cadre review and with steering key initiatives in the digitisation of departmental processes.
Retiring Transport Commissioner, Elias T Lotha extended warm greetings and befitting respect to all present. He thanked everyone for their kind words and thoughts and said that he would strive to live up to them. He appreciated the work done by everyone and acknowledged their dedication and commitment to their duties.
He said that areas requiring attention should be taken up, as these are the responsibilities of public servants. He also sought pardon for any harm he may have unknowingly caused, stating that such actions were unintended and were only in an effort to ensure the best quality of service.
Though his journey ends here, he said he viewed it as a journey of a humble servant, which God had carved out to mould him for more noble purposes. He encouraged everyone to pass on any positive impact they may have received from him and create a difference in the lives of others.
