Fire breaks out in Noklak Village, five houses destroyed

A devastating fire broke out in Noklak village on March 29, 2025 at around 3:00 pm. Five houses were burnt down to the ground in the incident while two neighbouring families were evacuated fearing the inferno.

The vilage morung was also partially damaged. However, no casualties have been reported.

Due to water shortage, the firefighters had to refill the water storage tank from a fishery which was 3 km away.

The public have raised a concern saying that the inferno could have been put off without further delay if there was better availability of water source.

Despite the challenges, personnels from Fire & Emergency Services, Noklak,, District Disaster Management Authority, 14 Assam Rifles, Noklak village guards and local residents worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze.

Baptist Church Thang (Noklak) and relatives took the initiatives of providing accommodation and provisions to the affected families. Concerned authorities will assist the necessities further.
