The First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voter Machines (EVMs) & Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) has begun in Nagaland in view of the forthcoming General Election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 2023. The exercise started on 11 October and will continue till 19 October.
The FLC will cover all the District Headquarters of Nagaland with Deputy Commissioners & District Election Officers coordinating at the district level.
FLC is the process of full functionality test check of EVMs/VVPATs as a preparatory step for the conduct of the forthcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election.
A team of thirty-four EVMs & VVPATs Engineers from Electronic Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), Hyderabad headed by P C Mandal, Deputy General Manager, as State Co-Ordinator, has been deputed for the conduct of FLC of EVMs/VVPATs.
The Election Commission of India has also deployed eight EVM Nodal Officers from Mizoram, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, NCT Delhi, Assam, Punjab, Sikkim and Manipur for inspection of FLC preparedness and quality check.
Prior to starting the FLC of EVMs and VVPATs, Election Commission of India (ECI) organised a full-day workshop on the exercise for District Election Officers (FLC-in-charge) and Deputy District Election Officers (FLC supervisors) on 8 October.
